The instructions on the beer kit will tell you: Empty the can of malt into the brewing bucket. This is normally best done by immersing the can in hot water to soften the malt which makes it easier to pour out. Then rinse the can with hot water to remove any remains.

To begin, steep any included grains in a muslin grain bag in 2.5 gallons of water. Steep them for 20 minutes at 150-160F (65-71C) degrees, unless your instructions state otherwise. Once done, remove the grain bag, and drain the liquid over your brewing pot (a colander or strainer makes this easier).

In a separate brew kettle, heat the sparge water to 200 o F. Our goal is to brew about 5 gallons of beer so be sure to heat enough water to top up your wort with. Now, you will do the actual sparging or cleansing. First, transfer half a gallon of wort to a bucket or other container and then pour it back to the mash tun.

This is when your beer actually becomes alcoholic. During Fermentation, your jugs should sit somewhere out of the way (and out of direct sunlight) while ale yeast turns sugar into alcohol. Place brew pot in an ice bath until it cools to 70°F (21°C). Once cooled, place strainer over funnel and pour your beer into the glass fermenter.
